nailz!

I work in an office and spend most of my day at the keyboard. As an admittedly poor typist, I spend a lot of time looking at my hands. My recent obsession with decorating my nails in interesting ways has brought a smile to my face while immersed in Excel spreadsheets.

The Sally Hansen Salon Effects are really pretty awesome. They are essentially stickers that cover your entire nail. These are hit or miss depending on who you talk to. Some of my friends say they are too hard to apply, are to expensive or don't last long enough. I have to say I'm a huge fan and only have some minor "design issues" with them.

For me they are super easy to apply and last up to 2 weeks with no chipping. This makes the $12 price tag seem justifiable because a regular manicure would cost the same and chip within 2 days. Other perks: Instantly dry! Usually painting my nails means all the dishes are done, the house is clean and my pajamas are on because any task outside of brushing my teeth means the paint is ruined. And even then I usually wake up with sheet lines embossed on my perfectly painted nails. These require zero dry-time.

Hello... Sweet!

My only problem? The designs aren't very modern or mature. Leopard print and butterflies just don't jive with the look I want to achieve.

That's okay though because there are plenty that make me happy - like the ones above and these Halloween ones:

I also like all these new crackle polishes. These work for me because they still look kinda good even when my polish inevitably starts to chip:

I also love to be inspired by friends (this paint job kept making me think of the movie The Velvet Goldmine):

And this was my attempt to copy a design I saw on Hey Nice Nails:

Finally, you must try this tutorial on newspaper nails. SO easy:

It's going to be addictive, I can tell. Just you wait...
